This 12 day / 3 country tour focuses on the archeological and cultural wonders this amazing region has to offer... along with a bit of Belize's Caribbean island sun. Arrive in Guatemala spend a few days in the most spectacular colonial city in the Americas, shopping, soaking up the Mayan and Guatemalan culture, or enjoy a few of the many adventure tours offered. Visit breathtaking Lake Atitlan and the nearby Indian villages. Then head to Peten and Tikal for a day and a half of Mayan archeology and jungle trekking. From there you will visit Belize for some blissful tropical sun, diving, snorkeling, island hopping, sightseeing.. etc. On your last day we will do a one day tour of the Copan ruins in Honduras, a masterpiece of antiquity not to be missed. * Please note that all our tours are private & tailor made. Day 1: Guatemala City - Antigua
|
Arrive into Guatemala City (TBA) and be transferred directly to your lovely charm hotel in Antigua. Spend an afternoon/evening enjoying this magical colonial town, considered by some to be the most beautiful in the world. Walk its romantic cobble stone streets and enjoy fine cuisine at one of the many fine gourmet restaurants in the area.

Day 2: Antigua (Free day)
|

Day 3: La Antigua - Iximche - Lake Atitlan
|
Depart at 9:00 am for breathtaking Lake Atitlan, a deep-blue volcanic crater lake surrounded by three picture perfect volcanoes and the colorful Maya villages resting on its shores. Described as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world by late British author Aldous Huxley, it is definitely one of Guatemala’s most spectacular natural attractions. Spend the afternoon visiting the lake side villages of Panajachel, Santiago, San Pedro and St. Catarina Palopo - take a hike up one of the three volcanos, by foot or horse, kayak, waterski, scuba dive, etc. There are a myriad of activities to enjoy at this amazing lake. Stop in rout to visit the late Post-Classic Maya ruins of Iximché, ruled by the Kaqchikel in the 15th century until it’s burning by the Spanish in 1526, is also a worthy visit. Located in the municipal district of Tecpán, this archaeological site was the ancient capital of the Maya Kakchiquel Indians and Guatemala’s first capital – “The kingdom of Goathemala.” These well preserved ruins, located on a promontory in the higher and cooler Sierra mountains, surrounded by steep slopes and pine trees. A stop at the Solola market (cooperativa) is also an option.

Day 4: Lake Atitlan (Free day)
|
Free Day at Lake Atitlan - Here you may choose to relax at your deluxe lake side Hotel, swim in the lake, take a boat tour to one or various of the many lake side villages. Highly Recommended!! Visit nearby Panajachel, Santiago, San Pedro and St. Catarina Palopo. RECOMMENDED: Chichicastenango Day Tour (Sun & TH only) Today we recommend you organize at the hotel a private or public tour to visit the mystical city of Chichicastenango (1 hr drive). The city is located at 2500 meters above sea level and is famous for its market on Thursdays & Sundays. Spats of traditionally dressed villagers in a kaleidoscope of colors come to sell their very colorful textiles, fruits, vegetables and flowers here. Day 5: Lake Atitlan - Peten (Tikal)
|
Spend a free morning enjoying one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Be picked up at 10:30 am at the hotel for you private transfer to Guatemala City Airport. A quick stop for lunch or coffee at the lovely café Katuk is always a lovely option we are sure you will enjoy. Arrive at Guatemala city airport around 15h30 for your 5:00 pm TACA flight to Flores. Arrive in Flores at 6:00 pm where the Hotel transporters will be there to meet you and take you to your deluxe eco lodge nestled deep in the Peten jungle.

Day 6: Peten (All Day Tikal)
|
After a hearty breakfast, your private guide and transport will pick you up at hotel 9:00 am take you to explore Tikal, one of the largest and most magnificent Mayan archeological cities in existence, which in its heyday (c. 700 AD,) was the capital of a vast Mayan empire. Your expert guide will share many insights on this Mayan city and provide a feel for the mysteries of this ancient culture. Have lunch in the midst of Mayan ruins and breathtaking flora and fauna; return in the late afternoon and spend the evening relaxing lake side, or opt for a visit & possibly dinner in the lovely town of Flores, the capital of the Peten region..
TIKAL TOUR: 9:00 am departure from Hotel in Peten for Tikal ruins with expert guide for an all day guided tour, complete with lunch, entrance fees and transportation.

Day 7: Peten (Free day)
|
Free day to enjoy the many attractions the Peten Region has to offer. We recommend a half day tour of the romantic archeological site of Yaxha/Topoxte, or any of the other sites Mayan ruins in the region based on your own interests. Peten also boasts the largest protected tropical forest area in Central America, whose areas amazing fauna and flora, lakes, rivers, lagoons, caves, etc.. make it a perfect place to engage in all sorts of adventurous activities…Please visit our Tours in the Peten Region page for more information. Or you may simply choose to relax lakeside enjoying the natural sounds of the rainforest.... Enjoy a lovely dinner at the lodge, or perhaps a visit of the charming village of Flores for dinner is a better option.

Day 8: Peten (Tikal) - San Pedro, Belize
|
Be transferred by hotel staff at 7:30 am to Flores airport for your Tropic Air flight departing at 9:30 am to beautiful Belize, arriving in Belize City at 10:15 am. Then catch a short 15 minute flight to the pristine Caribbean beaches of San Pedro in Ambergris Caye. Just a short 5 minute taxi drive will take you to your 5 star resort, Victoria House, where you can spend the afternoon basking in the sun, swimming, snorkeling, visiting the small town of San Pedro, relaxing with a cocktail at one of the beach front bars, etc...

Day 9: San Pedro (Free day)

Spend a fabulous day enjoying the many Tours & Activities offered directly at the Victoria House resort. Pristine and unspoiled beaches, islands and reefs await. Swim, dive, snorkeling, fish, kayak, windsurf... the brilliant turquoise waters of the Belize. Or of course you may also choose to simply relax by the beachfront pool, swing in a hammock under the tall swaying palms and let our attentive staff cater to your needs!

Day 10: San Pedro - Flores - Guatemala City
|
Enjoy your last morning of Caribbean sun and fun before catching your 3 pm flight back to Flores and Guatemala City. Please arrange to be at the San Pedro airstrip by 1:30 pm to catch Tropic Air flight 81, departing at 2:00 pm and arriving in Belize City at 2:17 pm. Your connecting flight to Flores leaves at 3:00 pm and arrives in Flores at 3:45 pm. You will later catch Inter Taca flight 973 departing at 6:20 pm arriving in Guatemala City at 7:20 pm. For the 2 hour layover we recommend a visit to Flores to spend some time walking around this lovely town, only a 5 minute taxi ride from the Airport. Arrive in Guatemala City in the evening and be transported to your hotel for a night of much deserved relaxation, and in preparation for the next day's trip to the Copan Ruins in Honduras.
AIR TRANSPORT: Tropic Air flight 81, departing at 2:00 pm and arriving in Belize City at 2:17 pm. Day 11: Guatemala - Copan - Guatemala
|
Pick up from hotel at 6:00 am from hotel in Guatemala city for transport for the magical Ruins of Copan in Honduras (4hr drive). Your private transport will take you directly to the ruins, there you can hire a local to tour this great Mayan site, which even in ruins, appeared as a masterpiece of antiquity to explorer John Lloyd Stephens in 1839. Today, its rich stone sculptures and intricate hieroglyphs make Copán one of the most extraordinary of Mayan sites in existance. Spend 4 to 5 hours touring, have lunch, and depart around 16h00 for your 4 hr drive back to Guatemala City.

Day 12: Guatemala - Airport
|
Be taken in the morning by hotel shuttle service to Guatemala International Airport for departure flight home. Please arrange exact departure time with hotel concierge the night before, and remember to be there minimum 2 hours prior to departure of your international flight.

DAY 4 & 5 - LAKE ATITLAN & ITS VILLAGES
In Lake Atitlan, a deep-blue volcanic crater lake surrounded by three picture perfect volcanoes and the colorful Maya villages resting on its shores, you will experience a magic felt in no other place. DAY 6 & 7 - TIKAL RUINS & LAKE PETEN ITZA

Here imagine yourself swimming, diving, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, windsurfing... the brilliant turquoise waters of the Belize archipelago, made up of over 200 deserted tropical islands and coral atolls, where more than 70 types of coral and over 400 species of fish call these waters home.
