Departure from La Antigua / Lake Atitlan

HIKING TOURS


Climb Payaca Volcano from Antigua – Full Day

Our tour starts with a morning transfer (1hr) to the foothills of the active Pacaya volcano. The hike then begins with a fairly strenuous hike through wonderful pine forest up to the more tricky volcanic ash section and finally to the sulfur smoking cone. On occasions you can even see small eruptions and lava flow depending on the activity of the volcano. From the summit we can enjoy great views to the northern volcanoes, the pacific lowlands and all the way to El Salvador. Back at the base of the volcano, our support vehicle awaits us for our transfer back to Antigua.

Antigua Valley Hiking - Half Day (AM or PM)

The tour starts with a short transfer to a scenic farm near Antigua. Here we start hiking through forest and fields, enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding volcanoes, mountain peaks and valleys. We can also enjoy plenty of birdlife and meet local people who are working their fields. After a few hours of hiking we then descend down back towards Antigua passing through local villages to our destination.

Lakeshore Hike & Village Visit (Lake Atitlan) - Half Day (AM or PM)

You will be met by your guide at your hotel for a nice hike along the shores of the beautiful Lake Atitlan. You will walk through villages and will pass local Maya people working in the fields, washing clothes and fishing from their unique wooden boats. After lunch we will visit the village San Juan or Santiago. After a visit to the village you will be transferred back by boat to your hotel.

Cerro de Oro Hike with Santiago Village (Lake Atitlan) - Half Day

You will be met at your hotel by our boat driver and enjoy a short transfer to the Cerro de Oro area, where we disembark and start our adventure in the village of Cerro de Oro. Here we start our hike passing through this charming local village. A one hour climb brings us to the top and will give us spectacular views over the area. After a short walk down a ride in a local truck brings us back to Santiago.

Hike Volcano San Pedro (Lake Atitlan) - Full Day

Our tour starts with a boat transfer to the town of San Pedro, a short pick up transfer brings us to the visitor center, from where the actual climbs starts. Within 3 -4 hours of climbing through fields and cloud forest we reach the top of the volcano on almost 3000 meters. Often enjoy magnificent views over the lake and its mountains and volcanoes while having our well deserved lunch. After lunch we go down back to your hotel.
