Tulum & Xel-Ha Tour - Full day
Discover the mysterious beauty of Tulum and the stunning, natural Xel-Ha aquarium. This relaxing excursion from Cancun or Playa del Carmen will give you the opportunity to explore the spectacular Mexican landscape and natural aquatic life.
At the archaeological zone of Tulum (approx. 1 hr from Playa del Carmen / 2 hrs from Cancun) over sixty well-preserved structures can be observed within three massive walls which surround the site. Tulum flourished in late Post-classical times with buildings dating back to the 12th century. It was once an important trading port, one of the few Mayan cities still inhabited when the Spaniards arrived. Mounted on the edge of a cliff, this abandoned city towers above the beautiful white sandy beach, where the sun rises from the sea above the city walls. There is a small bay beside the main temple, ideal for a swim while gazing up at the Maya's architectural wizardry.
A 20 minute drive will take you to the incredible natural aquatic theme park Xel-Ha. Meaning "place where water is born," Xel-Ha is one of the most magical spots of the Riviera Maya. It is an incredible "natural aquarium" where the ocean combines with the freshwater currents of springs and underground rivers, forming a fascinating ecosystem. This stunning creation of nature is surrounded by thick jungle, caves, cenotes, and even a couple of small archaeological sites, a snorkeling paradise. The park is the perfect habitat for all forms of flora, fauna, and marine life.
